PayPal payment I received got cancelled

Hello everyone! Recently I received an email from PayPal that I have received a payment through eCheque and it will take 6-8 business days to clear the it. I checked my transaction status, it was showing pending at that time. After 8 days I re-checked my transaction status, it was showing cancelled. I haven’t even received any email from PayPal informing me about the cancelled payment. I’m trying to contact the payer and also the PayPal support team. Can anyone please tell what could have happened that my transaction got cancelled? Who might have cancelled the payment, PayPal or the payer?
