Customer Asks Me To Investigate USPS Regarding Late Package

I shipped a package on time (within a day), and it went to Chicago via USPS where it has been seemingly stuck for a week. The customer, who lives in Chicago, asked me to investigate and ask USPS as to why the package was stuck. I put the tracking number into the USPS website tracker, and it read, “Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.” How can I satisfy the customer’s request? Can I even trace a package if it’s still in transit, and not considered lost?
