Stupid mistake by Paypal!

Hi, how can i get this transaction sorted out? I purchased a item on ebay that did not work properly. The item was a Norton anti virus and was sent by email. The guy would not answer emails or when he did gave information that did not make sense. So i ask Palpal to sort it out. It got to the stage where Paypal ask me to provide prove of postage but how do you get a proof of postage when the item was sent by email? The guy has used this to win the case and Paypal has fallen for his lies! I did type a email saying i have no proof of postage as it was sent by email and it makes no sense but Paypal did not respond to this. What do i do next?
