All my funds have vanished

Good Morning,
I am from South Africa, but was locked down in the USA from December 2020-November 2020. During that time, I did some voice over work and accrued about R630.00. I was told that I needed to transfer the money to a FNB account, but PayPal kept sending codes to my SA cell, which did not work in the USA. They also said I needed to transfer my funds within 3o days – I was unable to do this and confirmed with a PayPal agent that my money was safe. However, since I got back to South Africa, I see that my account is on ZERO dollars. Please could anyone assist me in finding where these funds may be, and how on earth do I recoup them? I am sooo mortified that this could happen.
