Scammed Via F&F what can I do?

Description

Been scammed via a payment via friends and family this week, was over a facebook item. Item was £500 i used my credit card, i have all corresponding messages showing the payment will be for the item and his reply with the promise of a tracking number. His facebook profile is legit as it goes back years, there is pictures of him and i also have his email address. I’ve phoned police and told to wait at least a week before reporting a theft/fraud. Surely as the messages show the friends and family payment was for an item it can be disputed?
