Paypal charged E-check transaction fee is a ripoff

I recently have a transaction of $5900 from a friend and she sent it as e-check. It’s very apparent that Paypal fail to pop up a window to tell her that it will have a fee associate with it. Nor Paypal told us that either before accepting the transaction.
The fee is a rip-off. I don’t think it’s a legal to hide the fee from both parties. When I communicated to PP about the transaction, they said because it was a e-check. How the hell will I know it was a e-check? If I deposit a check, I don’t get charged fee. So why e-check’s fee is being deducted from the receiver’s account?
This is ridiculous! I wonder whether there a class action lawsuit around all the hidden fees from Paypal at this point? Anyway, I am not going to do Paypal anymore and I am very dissapointed in your service. I feel people are very robbed by big corporation. It’s not about the money, it’s about the principle of conducting the business and being not transparent. It’s not right. I hope someone will come up with a better service with more business transparency. By Paypal!
