The truth about PayPal Credit 0% financing for 4 months. Very misleading in practice.

Short and narrow: Misleading, disingenuous bulls**t. Attempting to pay off the debt leads you down a maliciously constructed corridor of dead ends.
I bought an item on the 0% interest 4 month financing plan in June for £235. Since then I have made further purchases on my Paypal account. I logged into Paypal to try and pay off the £235 debt before it started accruing interest – you know as is implied in the 20 emails they send out a week about how great 0% financing is.
To my surprise… its not possible to pay off 0% financing plans before they start accruing interest. That’s not how the system works apparently. You have to wait until it starts accruing interest, then you pay it off. Hmm, it’s almost like Paypal designed this system so they can milk more money out of people. If you have purchases on top of your 0% financing, Paypal will kindly allocate your payment to clear off the transactions that are currently accruing the most interest. It would be too hard for them to put a drop down menu on the payment screen allowing you to allocate your payment to a specific purchase – I don’t think modern technology is there yet (sarcasm).
Not only that, but I had to go through their infuriating robots on the phone – here’s a little tip, NLP and machine learning never has and never will work for phones. Stop being cheap skate pikeys and hire some humans in call centres, and not the rude mouthy woman I ended up speaking to after 20 minutes pulling my hair out with robots.
As I’m rambling, ultimately I just want you to all know that paypal credit 0% interest offers are really a load of lies and marketing spin. It’s not 0% because it’s impossible to pay it off before the 4 month period expires.
Because of how misled I feel through this process (all I was trying to do was pay off my bloody debts as agreed in our contract), from here on in I won’t be using Paypal Credit anymore. I will be getting a credit card which will offer me a net benefit of also contributing towards my credit rating.
You’ve lost a customer because of this nonsense PayPal, and heres to you losing another few thousand when they realise the lies.
