Spam PayPal accounts created under my domain
### Spam PayPal Accounts Created Under My Domain
Hey everyone,
I have recently encountered a rather unsettling issue that I’ve been trying to tackle on my own with little success. I’m hoping that someone out there might have some advice or a solution. The problem centers around spam activity using my domain, example.org.
Let me set the stage. I’m the sole administrator of the domain example.org, meaning that I, along with my family, are the only ones with access to it. No one else has permissions or for that matter, knowledge of the domain beyond the immediate family. It comes as quite a surprise, then, to have discovered what seems like a wave of unauthorized activity.
Over the past month, I found that about ten to fifteen PayPal accounts had been created using email addresses under our domain. What makes this peculiar is that these email addresses (such as beverly@example.org, daisy@example.org, and shaun@example.org) aren’t even in use by us. Not only that, but eBay accounts were also created under these addresses, and they all seem to share a common interest in watching and purchasing the same product.
While navigating this problem, I’ve managed to control the eBay side of things by taking over these accounts, changing the passwords, and requesting that their data be removed from eBay. However, the PayPal scenario is more taxing since there isn’t the same level of control. The best I can do is forward the affected email addresses to UnsolicitedEmail at PayPal, hoping that this will prompt them to take some action.
The concern is that these accounts could potentially be used for spam, scams, or other illicit activities that could hurt my domain’s reputation and possibly even mine personally. Has anyone else encountered something similar? More importantly, are there steps I can take to rectify this situation and protect my domain from such unauthorized use?
Any advice or tips would be incredibly appreciated. I’m reaching out in hopes of finding a solution that I haven’t thought of yet.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from anyone who has insights into this matter.
