Bias in History Textbooks | American University
Biased Portrayals of Slavery in US History Textbooks. Historians agree that when the Southern states seceded, they did so to preserve slavery. Yet, the portrayal of slavery in US history textbooks has changed over time to serve the powers that be, leading to a deluge of misinformation. Ignorance about American slavery is evidenced in polling data. As Pew Research Center polls show, the majority of adult Americans wrongly believe that states’ rights was the primary cause of …

What are some examples of very biased history textbooks?
I guess I don’t have specific names of textbooks but many American History textbooks used in U.S. high schools have been shown to be biased in favor of white, Northern European males at the expense of other groups and their contributions to American History. In large part this occurs because textbooks have to fit guidelines setup by the Texas textbook commission that approves textbooks used in Texas high schools. Since this one state has such a large number of students many writers and …

How biased are textbooks on American history? : r/AskConservatives
If you want to learn American history, don’t read text books, read primary sources. Read the Federalist Papers, the Anti-Federalist papers. I have found this website provides a lot of primary sources searchable by topic. So don’t use a textbook to tell you about history, read the primary source and come to your own conclusions. That way you don’t have to worry about bias. I know this doesn’t really answer your question, but textbooks are kind of my pet peeve.

Are our school textbooks biased? – Quora
Of course they are, everything is biased. In general, textbooks are biased toward empiricism. They’re also pro-intellectual. They’re biased in favor of the culture that wrote them (most evident with regards to topics like history, but it pops up elsewhere too). They also have strange biases that result from the history of the field, examples to explain phenomena are often the same across books, despite it being no better of an example than anything else.
