**When Does *Deadliest Catch* Start in 2024? Here’s Everything You Need to Know**

If you’ve ever braced for storms, high-stakes grapples, and the grueling reality of life on the high seas, *Deadliest Catch* is the ultimate thrill ride. But for fans, nothing’s more electrifying than learning when the next season will drop. With Season 20 poised to keep the drama rolling, let’s dive into the details: **When does *Deadliest Catch* start?**

—

### **Season 19 Recap: Stormy Seas and Snow Crabs**
The 19th season of *Deadliest Catch* premiered on **April 18, 2023**, with a two-hour episode that kicked off a year of uncertainty. While the show’s hallmark Bering Sea snow crab season was canceled due to conservation efforts and population crashes, the crews adapted by turning to pollock and other fisheries.

Key highlights of Season 19 included:
– **The Better Captain** mini-series (August 2023), pitting skippers like Capt. Andy Hillhouse and Capt. Josh Harris in head-to-head challenges.
– **New Crews**: Introducing fresh faces while veterans like Capt. Phil Harris returned, blending seasoned grit with rookie ambition.
– **Economic Pressures**: Crews battled fluctuating prices and permits, proving the fight for survival is as much about strategy as luck.

### **Season 20: What’s Brewing on the Horizon?**
As of late 2023, **Season 20 remains unannounced**, but here’s what fans can speculate:
– **Premiere Date Estimate**: Following the 2023 pattern, a **2024 premiere in March or April** is likely. Keep your eyes on Discovery’s social media for an official drop.
– **Catch Changes**: If snow crab seasons stay closed, expect more focus on pollock, squid, or cod—new species could bring fresh drama!
– **Crew Overhauls**: With captains like Capt. Jake Anderson retiring and new skippers entering, the series may explore fresh fisheries or international crews to keep the stakes high.

### **Why the Waiting Game? The Bering Sea’s Secret**
The biggest reason *Deadliest Catch*’s schedule can’t be predicted? Nature. The closure of crab fisheries isn’t a plot twist—it’s real-life conservation in action. For instance:
– **Snow Crab Crisis**: The Bering Sea snow crab population remains at historic lows, leading to indefinite closure until 2024.
– **Filming Constraints**: Storms, permits, and seasonal shifts mean production often lags. (Pro tip: The *F/V Time Bandit*’s $1M haul last season shows crews are finding creative ways to survive.)
