PayPal not releasing funds on hold after shipment was delivered

Have you ever had a frustrating experience with PayPal? I’m sure many of you have, and I’m about to share one of my own. Recently, I sold an expensive item on Facebook Marketplace and shipped it to the buyer’s address, as requested. The transaction was smooth, and I even had proof of delivery. However, to my surprise, PayPal has been holding onto the funds, and I can’t get them released.

To give you a bit of background, I shipped the item on November 4th, 2020, and according to PayPal’s policy, the funds would be released one day after delivery. Since the item was delivered, I’ve been waiting patiently for the funds to become available in my account. But, here we are, five days later, and the funds are still on hold.

When I contacted PayPal to get an update on the situation, they told me that it’s because I haven’t used my account in a long time to sell something. Now, I understand that this might be a legitimate reason, but the fact is that I’ve had hundreds of successful transactions on PayPal in the past. I’ve also taken clear photos of the shipping process, including the product, the PayPal transaction ID, and the address I shipped to.

In addition, I’ve got the Facebook conversation saved, which shows that the buyer was fully aware of the shipping process and was even contacting me daily to get updates on the item’s progress. It’s strange that as soon as I sent him the tracking number, he stopped responding to my messages.

At this point, I’m left feeling frustrated and helpless. I’ve tried to contact a human at PayPal, but I’ve been unable to get through on the phone. I’ve also reached out to the buyer, but unfortunately, he’s not responding.
