So, like many others, I’ve been selling my stuff on eBay to make ends meet during this whole COVID mess. I’m keeping things simple, selling only within the US to avoid those pesky international fees. But here’s the catch: PayPal, that supposedly user-friendly payment platform, started hitting me with random fees for each transaction.

Six to eight percent? Really? That’s more than double the standard 2.5% I was expecting. I spent hours trawling through PayPal’s help pages, desperately searching for answers. One page screamed, “PayPal doesn’t charge for receiving funds!” Another pointedly stated, “2.5% fee to get or send money.” So, which is it, PayPal?

Try as I might, I couldn’t get a straight answer from their customer service. They’re masters of dodging the question, leaving me with more frustration than cash in my pocket. Meanwhile, eBay, in classic transparent fashion, is upfront about their fees – no hidden surprises.

**Is PayPal deliberately being sneaky?**

They try to make it appear complicated, but the fees should be clear as day. Maybe they hope we’ll be too confused to notice, or too scared to ask questions. Whatever their motivation, it feels incredibly unfair and downright shady.

It’s time for PayPal to get their act together. Let’s have a fair and transparent system where sellers know exactly what they’re paying for. Until then, watch your bank account – those unexpected PayPal fees might bite you harder than you think.
