-How soon do you think the servers will be shut down? I know D1 was a big game, so I’m guessing 6-7 years before it is shut down. Thanks, I know D1 still has players, and so the servers won’t be shut down for a few years, but I just want to be able to login and play my favorite game when I am older, and I’m wondering if this is possible. Destiny 1 Servers will never be actively shut down be Bungie. Bungie has stopped cleaning the server traces, which, in theory, will mean eventually over an unknown period of time, the servers will eventually have so many bugs the game will just be unplayable. While it is mostly Peer to Peer, there are definitely some server-side functions that would need to be supported. That being said- historically, MMOs are hard to kill completely- somebody generally buys the rights to continue hosting the game. You can still play the original Everquest, today. So if a day comes when Bungie no longer wants to support it in any way- they will almost certainly find somebody who will.

Well on my Xbox 360 lately I have noticed some bugs with destiny, first off, nobody ever is at the tower, it’s almost like everyone has just stopped playing. Second problem, whenever I try to go to a planet on patrol I can only load in the Starting area of the planet and when I try to go anywhere else it just says ‘loading’ until it kicks me out for a supposed error. Please if anyone knows what’s happening please respond to help me figure out whats happening.

When do you think Bungie will shut down D1 servers?
Theoretically, they could shut them down as an attempt to force people to D2, but after the last couple weeks such a move would backfire fatally. Destiny 2 being released didn’t mean that Destiny 1’s servers shut down, and most game publishers understand that shutting down an MMO’s servers means you’re going to have a lot of angry customers.
