I spend a lot of time in the r/professors sub, and no one over there ever has anything good to say about Course Hero. It’s basically a website for cheating students, and even if you have no personal designs on throwing away your own academic integrity… Giving them my patronage would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Those are usually the courses with the biggest student to teacher ratios and are more likely to use complementary e-learning services which is also used by other universities and tend to show little variation year-to-year in the material. I hardly had to crack open my books for PHYS1050/1060, SOCI1520, ANTH1010, and even for parts of my 3000/4000 level courses because of stuff I’ve found on CourseHero, but it really just depends on the course.

It can be really useful, but depends on the classes and professors you have. It’s a pretty steep price for the subscription and you’re given more unlocks than you probably need. Sharing it with friends may leave you without unlocks at the end of the month. I sell my extra ones on my website for pretty cheap.

Back when I was in college I used to use Course Hero to check my work with some of the content on there. I never copied, or blatantly cheated off of it, just used it to make sure I understood what I was doing, and that all the work I had done was correct. As my professors rarely ever provided feedback, even when asked, which frustrated me to the point of using the service. All the work I did throughout college was entirely my own, I just wanted to make sure I was correct and actually learning.

Hi, I have been a tutor on Course Hero for about 3-4 months and answered over 200 questions. I can confirm they’re legit. The only thing I dislike is the 16 day waiting period before you get your money in your account to cash out. Also, 41 questions in one week, you are at a good pace. But do not copy or write a lot of wrong answers as you can get banned for that. Happy earning!

Making a claim means that you didn’t get what you paid for, which you did. Since you did get the service that coursehero offered, you will pretty much automatically lose the PayPal claim. I’m not going to place blame on you directly and there’s probably some recourse to this somewhere if you’re being blocked out even though you paid and never got a refund. In the future, it’s always best to go to the company first, THEN PayPal/bank/credit card company later

This happened to me last month. I emailed the student and I also got our university’s legal counsel involved after I contacted course hero. The student eventually replied and apologized and course hero removed my links. I had to provide a link to every file that was mine which was a pain in the ass. I wish these websites like course hero, Chegg and rate my professor would allow us to go in and automatically delete our own files. This is just more busywork for us.
