When you get to each zone, either Athens or Sparta will be in control of it. If Athens is in control, then the side quests are going to be mostly Spartan. Wanting you to atack Athenian forts, and weaken Athens power. If the Teritory is controled by Athens, then the reverse will be true.

The game does not really expect you to pick one side and stick with it the entire game. Unlike in the real world, there are no consequences for killing a thousand Spartans. They will gladly welcome you into their arms for the next conquest battle. And after you kill a thousand more of them, they will still do it again.

Certain battles you need to be with Athens, others with Sparta for the main quests. Now for side quests you can accept or decline to help one side over the other. One quest you will need to obtain certain seals from spartans but for an athenian guard and vice versa for the spartan guard- you can play both sides or choose to one vs the other.

Helping Spartans or Athens or both does it matter?
you do not really have a side in the game, you are a free mercenary and you fight for whoever pays you or whoever can help you reach your personal goal regardless if those are spartans or athenians. You can choose a side if you want to, but you will get a lot less XP and resources if you only help one side since contracts are issued by both sides and not doing half of them means losing lots of opportunities for XP, money and resources. Last edited by UnhappyLawbro ; Oct 11, 2018 @ 5:50pm. #1.
