Received a strange Paypal notification text – scam??

I just received a Paypal security code” via text but had done nothing to warrant it as I wasn’t on my PC at the time. Just wondering if this is some kind of scam or notice that my a/c may be being hacked although I just checked it and all seems ok. It’s just the first time this has happened so don’t want to make any assumptions on it just in case. I’m in the UK and the # this came from was .”
