Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair

The ideal robot vacuum for pet hair should have powerful suction and brushes that won’t get caught in long pet hair. It should also have a smart app and the ability to create no-go zones.

In my tests in my tests, the iRobot J7+ got top marks in removing hairs of dogs and cats on hardwood floors. It also has an obstacle avoidance feature that can be used to detect cords and socks.

1. Eufy RoboVac – G30

A relative newcomer to the robot vacuum market, Eufy has gotten good reviews for its slim designs that slide under furniture with low. The G30 is a bit bigger than the company’s 11S model, but it’s still extremely slim, and offers more suction power and a mopping function in the overall package which is less than three inches high. It also has a nook for the charging base, which keeps it out of sight and out of mind when not being used.

The G30 utilizes the same app as many of Eufy’s other robotic devices. It’s a basic app in comparison to its more expensive counterparts, but it has some useful features. For example, a tap of the Settings menu allows you to share the control of the G30 with other household members. The robot can play a loud tune to assist you in finding it. This is useful in the event that the robot is stranded under a couch or if it runs out of the room.

When selecting a robot vacuum, it is important to look at its ability to collect pet hair. The G30 did a great job at this, easily getting rid of long and short dog and cat hairs from our test floors. It even sucked up dried clumps of cat food that the Roomba 675 struggled with.

While the G30’s main cleaning mode is Auto It also has two additional options for more specific tasks: Spot and Edge. The Edge allows you to draw a box around a portion of the floor which the robot will vacuum in for up to two minutes. The first one does the same, but pauses in between to ensure that it doesn’t overcrowd its dustbin.

Like many robotic vacuums the G30 generates a map as it cleans and keeps it in its memory. It doesn’t come with any other navigational features, such as room labeling or virtual no-go zones. The app lets you create boundary strips, however they’re more like suggestions rather than hard boundaries. However, the G30 is a smart, capable robot vacuum at a budget price.

2. Neato D9

The Neato D9 is a robot vacuum cleaner that has a bigger brush, a larger dust bin, and smart LIDAR mapping that allows you to effectively clean corners. It has sensors built-in and a docking station that performs charging functions.

The D9 is an upgrade from the D8 that offers double the runtime and better mapping. It also features a multi-surface brush that is more sophisticated and a high-performance filtering system that can collect finer particles, such as pet fur, than standard filters.

In our lab tests carpets as well as hard flooring performed well. It also had the longest battery life, allowing it to cover a large area without needing to recharge. The D9 doesn’t include a control remote but it can be operated manually by pressing the power button, or through the MyNeato App (available on Android and iOS) or by using voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant.

The D9’s onboard LIDAR assists the robot in mapping your home and approach cleaning in a systematic manner that avoids obstacles, which can help it clean more thoroughly. Its size may make it difficult to get under chairs and tables. This is why it’s not a good choice for homes with valuable antiques or collectibles. It also tends to climb up lamp bases and chair legs and cause damage to them or cause the robot to fall.

The D9 is, like the other models in this series, features a large brush that is able to pick up dirt in corners of rooms. It also comes with a turbo mode to tackle the large amounts of dirt and pet hair on carpets. In our tests, we discovered that the D9 performed well on carpets as well as hard flooring. It also did a great job at picking up pet fur on both. The D9 also has a HEPA allergy filter to eliminate small particles that could cause asthma and allergies. The D9 is simple to set up and use. With the MyNeato App you can designate zones to target problematic areas, such as crumbs underneath tables, or no-go zones to limit the area that the robot can cover, like narrow halls.
