Interested here is an adjective. It is formed from the participle, of course, but has been used so often that the verbal sense has been lost. When used as a verb, you would expect to see the preposition by. I am interested in his behaviour. (adjective) I am interested by his behaviour. (verb in passive)

#1 If you would be interested, I could drive you there. This sentence shocks me. I don’t understand how it can be correct to use would after if, especially if I compare it to my native romance languages. I would’ve said: If you were interested, I could drive you there. So what’s going on here? Are both sentences considered correct?
