I also prefer de nada as I personally would find it a little rude being told por nada. Perhaps it’s a contextual thing. The man in question who said por nada to me was a bartender and I did not give him a tip on this particular occasion as I had tipped him several times previously, and I am quite certain on those occasions he did say de nada.
