### Navigating the Waters of Royal Mail First Class Signed Delivery and PayPal Funds Release

Hello fellow sellers and buyers within the wonderful vinyl community,

I thought I would share a bit of my recent experience and perhaps garner some insights from you all as I’ve encountered a small hiccup in the process of selling my vinyls on Discogs, through PayPal. I joined PayPal to manage my payments, as it is a trusted platform for such transactions in the vinyl marketplace, along with using Royal Mail for deliveries. The idea is simple: post your commodities safely with signature required upon delivery, and the payments get released by PayPal following the confirmation of successful delivery. However, not everything has gone exactly as expected, hence this blog post!

Firstly, let me give you the scoop: I’ve recently posted three items, all vinyls within the UK, using Royal’s First Class Delivery service with signed delivery. The tracking information on Royal Mail’s website confirms what I hoped for – that indeed, all three have been delivered and signed for. This is a pleasant sign, as we all know the importance of ensuring that the items we sell reach their intended recipients safely.

Moving on to PayPal and how things ought to be done according to the PayPal system. Having provided the tracking information right at the moment of posting (Wednesday), one would think that the wheels of the PayPal process would swiftly kick into action. However, it seems there’s a bit of a delay. The money from the sales – which remains in a pending state – should be released within a day of PayPal confirming successful delivery.

So, here’s the million-dollar (well, maybe not that much, but you get the idea!) question: **How does PayPal confirm that the delivery was indeed successful, and when should the funds be released?**

Despite having processed all the necessary steps – providing the tracking information and following the delivery, the funds are still awaiting release. As for the confirmation of delivery, one would think that the system would detect the signature and automatically update the transaction status, leading to the immediate release of the transaction funds. On this note, it is especially puzzling as two out of the three items were delivered on Thursday, with no movement observed on the PayPal end, despite having provided the needed information.
