Hello everyone,

Today, I find myself on the cusp of a small, yet potentially impactful, change to my online presence. I am transitioning my personal account to a business profile, which comes with its own set of considerations and requirements. One key aspect of this transition is that I am being asked to define a product or service I am selling, which certainly raises some questions, especially since I’m primarily a streamer on Twitch who also accepts donations. This blog post is to seek a bit of insight and advice from the community, as well as to share a bit of my experience thus far.

Firstly, who am I, you may wonder? I’m just another face in the mass of content creators, streaming on Twitch, sharing my interests, hobbies, and adventures with anyone who stops by. The stream is the core of my activity, but I’m also fortunate to have received donations—those generous contributions that make me feel appreciated and provide a bit of support.

Now, to the crux of the matter: I need to choose a category for my newly business-oriented account to comply with the requirement. However, it’s a bit of a grey area as the industry I inhabit, real-time entertainment, doesn’t neatly fit into conventional categories like “Product” or “Service.” The streaming aspect of my work is effectively a service, but what I’m ultimately providing to my audience is entertainment, which isn’t usually classified as such in more formal or traditional business classifications.

So, what should I categorize myself under? It’s a legitimate question with an equally legitimate answer that hasn’t sprung into my mind just yet. I could ponder the idea that my primary service is content creation or perhaps even community-building, but these aren’t common classifications on business platforms. I could opt to list my service as “Online/Digital Services,” but it doesn’t quite encapsulate the heart of my work, which is primarily bringing entertainment and an engaging digital experience to those who watch.

What I need from you is guidance. Looking for your suggestions and input, what would you classify streaming, which involves community and entertainment, under if you were in my shoes? With this endeavor, I’m sure there’s a more refined classification that I might be overlooking.
