PayPal Credit Payments Allocated Incorrectly: A User’s Experience

Hello all,

Recently, I’ve encountered multiple issues while using PayPal Credit for various deals that allowed for no-interest repayment schedules over 6 months or more. I even took part in a special offer that provided an interest-free, 24-month payout plan for a high-value purchase. To clarify, all these transactions are managed through Synchrony Bank, with whom I’ve had to contact numerous times for assistance due to misallocated credit and payment issues.

The trouble intensified after several months into the 24-month EZ Pay deal. It quickly became apparent that my statement balances were fluctuating faster than anticipated, occasionally showing a dramatic reduction at a pace that was inaccurate to my initial terms. I noticed discrepancies on my statements almost every month, and without fail, had to follow up with a call to Synchrony Bank to get the payments reallocated correctly.

Over time, the situation worsened to a point where payments tied to my 6-month promotions were being pushed forward as well, with one instance culminating in a payment being resolved prematurely by two months. This was incredibly disconcerting.

After growing weary of the recurring misplacement of funds, I reached out to the Better Business Bureau. It wasn’t long before a representative from the Office of the President at Synchrony Bank contacted me to assist. They were able to back-alter the previous payments’ allocation.

On the plus side, for what remains of the 7 months left on the EZ Pay deal, I have a dedicated representative who can manually adjust my payments after submission. That might make the experience marginally more tolerable. On the downside, however, automatic systems should be capable of such straightforward payment allocations.

I pay my balance each month diligently to avoid any interest that might accrue beyond the terms of the promotion. Yet, somehow, it appears that the system can’t keep up with such a straightforward task.

All these dilemmas make me reconsider the use of PayPal Credit for future deals, a thought which brings me disappointment, as the service does provide significant benefits when managed correctly. Going forward, I will choose my payment methods more wisely and ensure that customer service is well-equipped to handle any concerns.
