## Scam Alert: Don’t Fall for the “Pending Payment” Trick!

I’m reaching out because I recently had a scary experience that could easily happen to any of us.

I was desperate for some quick cash and saw an online offer where someone promised to transfer money to my bank account if I first sent a smaller amount to their PayPal. I know, I know – it sounds like a scam, and it was.

The “transfer” of the money is now showing as “pending” in their PayPal, and they’re ghosting me. I’ve tried messaging them multiple times, but they just keep saying “Your money is pending, I can’t send you until the transaction is completed.” Now they’re essentially holding my money hostage and refusing to communicate.

**Here’s why this is a scam:**

* **Shifting the burden:** They make it seem like *your* money is stuck due to the pending transaction, putting pressure on you and convincing you to wait.

* **Disappearing act:** They likely vanish once they have your money, leaving you with nothing.

* **PayPal protection:** Remember, PayPal offers buyer protection. If something like this happens, report it immediately to PayPal.

**Here’s what I learned:**

* **Never send money to someone you don’t trust.** It’s better to be safe than sorry.
* **Trust your gut.** If something feels off, it probably is.
* **Beware of “too good to be true” offers.** If someone promises you easy money, it’s likely a scam.
