Missed direct debit to PayPal credit

I have been contacted by PayPal credit as I missed a payment and have received a Â£12 charge as well, I have recently done a 7 day switch but this direct debit seems to have not worked. I have manually changed it but what am I supposed to do now, I have never missed a payment in my life. My bank seem to think itâ€™s PayPal not them
