**”Seeking Happiness Where It’s Found”**

In our quest for happiness, we often search for it in the wrong places. We’re bombarded with advertisements and social media posts telling us that happiness can be found in material possessions, achievements, and likes. But what if we’re looking in the wrong direction?

Matthieu Ricard, a former scientist who became a Buddhist monk, once said, “Seek happiness where it is.” He chose a simple life in the Himalayas over a lucrative career, and we can all learn from his wisdom.

But what does it mean to seek happiness where it is? For some, it means letting go of societal pressures and expectations. It means embracing simplicity and contentment. It means finding joy in the present moment, rather than constantly striving for something more.

As Phil Bosmans so aptly put it, “The happiness is not on the other shore, it’s in you.” It begins in our hearts and can be shared with others when we’re authentic and genuine.

The quest for happiness can be a lifelong journey, and it’s easy to get caught up in the illusion that it’s something to be found elsewhere. But as the wise old master in the story of the two travelers searching for the “blue flower” so aptly put it, “Happiness is at a still, quiet, and deep place within us, which we rarely visit.”

In the words of the great Buddha, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one simply treats each day with gratitude.” So, let’s seek happiness where it’s found, in ourselves, and let go of the illusion that it’s something to be found elsewhere.
