Description
So, I listed something for sale on eBay, the buyer attempted to pay with a stolen credit card. eBay told me to wait and not ship the item whilst they investigated. The buyer then created a dispute because I hadn’t shipped the item, because I was following the instructions provided by eBay, which was to wait. I agreed to cancel the transaction and ‘refund’ the buyer. Even though I never received/withdrew/spent or had access to any of the funds I received from the transaction, as they were immediately put on-hold by eBay, because of the stolen credit card. And at the end of this stressful debacle, I ended up with a negative -$990.39 balance on my PayPal. I’m told I need to refund/advance the sales tax of $686, even though I never received the $686 sales tax in the first place. I’m also told that the $300 PayPal fee, I have to accept that loss as well, even though the buyer was using a stolen credit card and none of this is my fault. eBay is saying that if I pay/advance the $686 sales tax, I ‘should’ get it back… But why should I have to refund $686 sales tax that I never even received..? Why should I have to accept losing $300 in PayPal fees even though the buyer was paying with a stolen credit card, that is outside the realms of the standard PayPal terms and conditions surely..? I have a negative $990 balance on my PayPal through no fault of my own!
