PayPal Asking Me to Link Card

Hi everyone! I’m currently facing a dilemma when I go to pay via PayPal. I currently have more than enough money in my PayPal balance to make my purchase, and even though my balance is set as my preferred method of payment, PayPal now always asks me to provide my credit/debit card information. I’ve purchased from this website (Origin) via PayPal before and it didn’t ask me to link anything and drew from my balance. Is there a way to make PayPal stop asking me to link a card or is it just asking me this so it has a backup payment method? I just want to make sure PayPal isn’t trying to charge my card when I have enough money in my balance. If it matters, my purchase is a one time purchase, not a subscription. Any insight is appreciated, thanks!
